What to look for

The buying criteria that actually matter

  • HIPAA-eligible BAA

    Required for any document touching PHI (consents, treatment plans, BAAs). Most signing tools gate this to higher plans.

  • Brand recognition

    Some legal counterparties expect DocuSign specifically. For high-stakes contracts (BAAs, large vendor agreements), this can matter.

  • Built-in vs. separate subscription

    If your clinical platform or agency platform includes signing, you likely don't need a separate DocuSign seat. Run the cost math at your actual volume.

  • Filing automation

    Signed documents need to land on the right client record. Manual filing into Drive doesn't scale; auto-filing through an integrated platform does.
